There are several different games for the Gameboy - red, blue and yellow.
Each game is basically the same but comes with different characters.
SO if you have a red like my daughter does, there are certain monsters you will
never encounter.
(They have cables they can connect between two Gameboys and trade monsters!!)
So while it may not mean the Gameboy itself, it probably means the yellow game that
goes with the Gameboy.
Yellow was released last and so of course is cooler.
(My daughter is 7 as well.)
