It has a number of minor design issues (such as whether to allow
absolute symlinks and symlinks pointing outside the Darcs tree in a
darcs repo, and how to deal with challenged filesystems), but mostly
we just haven't done it.  There's no fundamental objections to
implementing them.

No, subversion's design is very different from Darcs'.  There's very
little we can learn from them and apply directly to Darcs.
