I don't find either uglier or more helpful (you still need to read the "long help" to know what the keys means). Maybe expanding the most common commands like: [(y)es (n)o (d)one (q)uit or (?) for more commands] At least you have the most common options handy, and if you are a newbie you are not overwhelmed by the whole list :).
