Bear in mind that this would only be for the first post of a
non-subscribed user, in order to give then 'semi-subscribed' status.
Subscribed users would notice no difference (except hopefully reduced
spam).

Well, if there's a volunteer then that works (and you presumably are
pretty easy to configure :-). I just know I wouldn't want the job.
