I already do it with sitecopy (discussed earlier on this list), which
works very well. However it only works well with one developer which
updates the ftp site. as soon as more developers start updating the
site, using sitecopy would become difficult (you would have to
create/update your local copy of the site, mark it with sitecopy as
being already on the server, then push your changes from your 'working
repo' to that repo and update the site using sitecopy.) (the reason i
don't use a normal ftp client like Filezilla is because, for some
reason, those always want to upload everything, including patches that
are already on the server. Using sitecopy solved this problem)

Although i didn't completely follow the "where arch is going" discussing
i read some comment telling something like "darcs could learn from arch
and use the good things, much like bazaar-ng does". Now, although i've
never used Arch, i understood that you can use any regular FTP-server to
keep your repo, so i think it certainly could be valuable add for
darcs... (wether it would be in darcs itself or as an extension is equal)
