I guess I don't get it, that's exactly what the "plain" does: it displays
a text/plain, downloadable patch in unified diff format; the same that it
gets displayed but in plain so you can download/copy-paste and use good
old patch to apply.

So I'm not quite following you here, could you explain a little further?
