I guess it's worth adding that if your run with pristine.none (no pristine
cache), then this problem can't happen.  It also means darcs runs much
slower for certain commands (record, whatsnew, etc), but for a push-only
repository it's a good option, and means you're pretty darn robust.  On the
other hand, with a push-only repository, a corrupt pristine cache can only
cause darcs failures, never actual corruption, so to a certain extent this
is a non-issue for those cases.
