Search the list archives for 'Cygwin' and all will become painfully
clear. In short: when Cygwin's ssh sees a Windows path like c:\foo, it
gets a little confused, and thinks you're trying to talk to a host
called 'c'. So avoid Cygwin. Supposedly PuTTY can be made to work.
