Is anybody out there using darcs on AFS (Andrew File System, see
openafs.org)?

It seems to leave behind some droppings (darcs_checking_for_nfs).

I understand the vague idea behind this, but AFS has different
semantics than NFS when it comes to removing open files -- AFS will
create a file called ".__afsXXXX" which will persist until the open
filedescriptor is closed (or the client holding the callback times
out).

Anyways, I'm wondering exactly what part of the NFS
open-delete-readwrite weirdness darcs cares about. It might not
matter on AFS.

However, currently, it's leaving behind droppings, and can't delete
its own darcs_checking_for_nfs directory because those .__afsXXX files
are still there.
