It's a lot when one's used to typing 'mv'. And it's counterintuitive

outside on.
That actually does has a bit of merit. But it its canceled by the other
platform where it's not completely different.
What does make a difference is that I consistently type 'move' when
it should be mv.
Are you sure you're a unix user?
I am but not exclusively. I'm on Linux/windows back and forth, both
machines sit on my desktop. On Linux most of the DOS/windows commands
are aliased to the *nix counterpart and .bat files help with the reverse.
But I don't 'mv' an object on my desk I 'move' it. You don't go and
'cp' something on the copier.
Although, most new users would find the interface hostile, and
loads of comments on how hard darcs is to work with would ensue.
I'm not opposed to adding 'move'. I'm opposed to removing 'mv'. And I
_very much_ doubt that 'mv' is more difficult than 'move'.
I wasn't thinking it would be removed. It's needed for backwards
compatibility.
I'd even be ok if it stayed officially 'mv' and just an alias for 'move'
were added. The people like me who think 'move' would probably never
even notice.
If you want all your commands in 2 characters like *nix then use
the 'alias' command and make you own.
Darcs doesn't have an alias command.
I meant at the shell level. Although, I'm just assuming that anyone who
has a preference of 'mv' over 'move' is a *nix user and has things like
that available.
Sorry if my last e-mail sounded hard edged. (the drawback of typing
as you think and then pressing send) I don't want to get into a flame
war. So I'm done.
I'll close with a note to a previous post that said:
This has been discussed over and over. For example in this thread:

The simple fact that it comes up over and over supports my comments.
Otherwise it would not be an issue. To convince me it's not will
require some sort of usability study showing that it does not matter.
I've read too many different texts that show inconsistent stuff* is
harder to work with than consistent stuff.
*By stuff I mean UI's, GUI's, programming methods, documentation, etc.
Out.
