Hello,

I've been using darcs for managing multiple branches but now I am seeing problems. I'm also not sure if I'm using darcs in a proper way, so the problem might be partly my usage pattern. Any tips are welcome

I have been using darcs for some time in the following manner:

                CVS  -> Mainline <-> Local

CVS is a central CVS repository, Mainline is a directorywhere I run both CVS and darcs and local is a branch where I do my own hacking and run obviously darcs. I have a need to cherrypick and test some patches from the local repo against the mainline. I guess I should have a Test branch too, where I would do that. I just tried to play with pull+unpull on the mainline with varying results.

I've been updating the mainline repo from a central CVS repository using CVS. Recording the changes with darcs and then pulling them to the local branch where I do my work. I then from time to time have pulled some patches from local to mainline, made a diff and unpulled the change.

The tree I'm working with is vim 7, just about 20MB+ of sources.
It has been working quite OK, it has not been very fast but tolerable until some time ago, when the pull operation I am used to do seemed to take forever, at least several hours until signalled it to quit. With verbose output I saw that the last output from darcs was "diffing dir...". I tried both 1.0.4 and 1.0.5.

Is this a known bug or is this just caused because I am using darcs in a way it should not be used? Also any recommendations about my setup are welcome.

Greetings,
Jussi
