Hi all

The university where I work provides scp access but no sftp.
I have been trying to use darcs with this arrangement but of course darcs wishes to use sftp.
In the manual at:
http://www.darcs.net/manual/node5.html#SECTION00520000000000000000
it suggests that if you have sftp but no scp then you can set DARCS_SCP to sftp but the other way around does not work.

So I have two questions:
firstly is this arrangement possible currently within darcs?
and secondly if not then is it likely to in the future or is there some fundamental reason why this cannot be done?

thanks in advance
allan

p.s. I tried using sshfs to remotely mount the directory in which my remote darcs repository is, this works fine for a "darcs get" and "darcs pull", but a "darcs push" fails because the lock function is not implemented, that is I get this error: darcs: takeLock /media/uni_mount/ipc/_darcs/lock in /media/uni_mount/ipc: atomic_create /media/uni_mount/ipc/_darcs/lock in /media/uni_mount/ipc: unsupported operation (Function not implemented) I just include this information in case anyone else has a similar setup, basically using sshfs you could at least keep up to date with a remote repository but not push patches to it.
