The process will involve reading roundup documentation, which describes
how
to make the transition (but describes it in many separate stages),
figuring
out how to copy over the actual data, which I believe is stored in a
mysqllite file, and helping me figure out how to actually get it working.

Customizations to roundup are made by modifying python code and html
templates they provide, so our customizations will need to be merged with
any new changes that need to go in. Probably not a problem, but will need
review. I keep our customizations (which I did myself) in a darcs repo,
so
you should have the history there to see what I changed and why, although
occasionally I'd forget to record very often.

I don't expect to give you root permissions, although I'd give you
permissions to modify the bug tracker (obviously). So you'd have to
instruct me in what you want done in terms of configuring apache2 and/or
exim4. I'll give you the relevant config files from the existing
installation, so it should just involve making sure it's still correct,
and
that you understand what changes I'll be making. I don't want to just
copy
over config files haphazardly.

If you wanted, you could then go on to implement cool features like
integration between darcs and roundup (e.g. being able to close bugs in
record messages), but that's certainly not required, and I'd only imagine
would happen if you got inspired.

So, are either of you up for this? It'll likely be pretty boring, but
shouldn't be more than a weekend's work, max. (Barring latency issues
caused by me going on vacation next week...)

Hi David,

I'm up for it, and happy to work with someone else if they express interest.

Tim
