Yes, that would be reasonable.  There would be a bit of trickiness would be
ensuring that the patches aren't cached in a buggy state.  One benefit of
the new format I've been working on is that since it stores hashes of the
patch files, this sort of thing could be done much more safely.  And, as
Eric pointed out, sending feature requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED] is more
helpful, as they then go into our issue tracker.
