I would say that it is ReleaseCritical, but I won't block the release on this, as outlined in my previous mail: I will only do that for ReleaseCritical && Regression bugs. Since it's a RC bug, I will accept a patch fixing this even late in the cycle, say first week of January. If there is reasonable chance to have this fixed in second week of January, I will slip the release by a week. Since it's not a regression, I won't hold the release much longer than that to have this fixed. David, it'd be great if you could give your opinion on the issue.
