Hi everyone,
For discussion purposes, here is a subset of the results from running Simon's
version of Pandoc
darcs get http://joyful.com/repos/pandoc
on the current darcs wiki
darcs get http://darcs.net/darcs-wiki
I did this with:
for i in *.page; do pandoc -f moinmoin -t rst $i > $i.rst; mv -f $i.rst $i;
done
One idea is that since we have version control, we can just do this in one
shot, and if we find that we have to tweak the convertor somehow, repeat the
process and make smaller darcs patches. The thinking is that tweaking the
convertor will not result in massive changes. See what I mean?
Simon, what do you think?
If you want to do it that way, that's cool. Me, I'm still trying to set up
latest gitit
serving the existing moin data, so I can browse and see clearly how good/bad
that new moin support is.
At times like these it gets very tempting to pull the switch, to feel progress and to avoid having to think about two
systems and synchronisation issues. Personally I'm not at that point, since I haven't seen enough of: our
serving/conversion of moin markup; our history conversion; gitit's performance and robustness for our wiki. For me
there's no question about synchronisation or which data is the master; it's what is being served at wiki.darcs.net, ie
the moinmoin wiki. Others might be at that point, ready to pull the trigger, and able to clean up as needed; that's ok too.
