I disagree. The theoretical merits of reST are really academic if the
needed features are not implemented by the tool we use. For example, I
don't care how well reST works with the right tool if I am stuck using
the wrong tool. Either change the format or change the tool. But the
combination of reST+pandoc is going to do the opposite of what everybody
wants and nobody will be happy.
