Please do:
$ mv _darcs/index _darcs/index.bad
$ darcs wh

And if at all possible, upload both _darcs/index and _darcs/index.bad somewhere
and post links. If I had to guess though, there is one more thing you should
know: if you use a repository that was accessed with darcs and hashed-storage
3.4, any further access with darcs based on hashed-storage < 3.4 will require
manual index removal. This should hopefully not be a problem for most people,
although you might have hit that issue?
