And if at all possible, upload both _darcs/index and _darcs/index.bad somewhere and post links. If I had to guess though, there is one more thing you should know: if you use a repository that was accessed with darcs and hashed-storage 3.4, any further access with darcs based on hashed-storage < 3.4 will require manual index removal.
