1. Convenience : We use 'changes' all the time.

2. Minimality  : To avoid overloading the main UI with a lot of
   little-used commands

I highly recommend that we avoid overindulging in these kinds of
discussions.  I definitely want us to have a very principled and well
thought out user interface, which is what these kinds of questions
serve, but discussions like these tend to sprawl out with little
impact.  I'd appreciate it we could all make an effort to flesh out
these kinds of ideas more before bringing them to the list.  Avoid the
cascade of ping-pong balls.

I have a nagging worry about all the people not reading this list
because the traffic is too high.  The problem is that they're usually
silent (because they're not reading the list!) so you don't know what
you're missing.  So let's keep things a little more focused, a little
more productive (not too much, gotta have some fun!).
