I'm CC'ing the list because this potentially turning into a discussion.

List: the context is a small feature request above by Robin.  I
suggested he look into the .authorspellings mechanism instead.

Could you clarify about this?  What happens if we see just the naked
email address?

This sort of thing is making me want to pull out the KISS principle :-)
We certainly would not want to find ourselves into a spiral of
increasingly sophisticated workarounds for surprise interactions caused
by increasingly sophisticated solutions.  In any case, thanks very much
for the idea!
