Multiple branches in one repo, and "pure" repos (with no working
tree).  Darcs currently doesn't do the former, and for the latter has
--no-working-tree, so there's really not much point IMO.

You mean like Bazaar, where essential functionality is hidden away in
experimental plugins in developers' private download areas. :-(
