You can use --tag and --patch with 'darcs show files' using the darcs
2.4 beta releases. The stable darcs releases indeed lack this feature.

any idea when the 2.4 should be officially released? if it's soon we could
just wait a bit for the release of the plugin, else we could improve the
automatic detection system to catch the version number but then we'll need
to improve the plugin system :-/
