Dear darcs developers, I wish to remind you that the soft freeze for darcs 2.5 goes into effect today, Thursday July 8th. During the soft freeze period, only patches achieving release goals and bug fixes can go into the release branch.
This time, the soft freeze will have a consequence for those submitting and reviewing patches. Patches that fix issues marked with milestone "2.5.0 CURRENT" on the bug tracker, should be applied to both the 2.5 branch and the HEAD branch before being accepted. The issue should not be resolved until it is either fixed in the 2.5 branch or postponed until a later release. To apply to the 2.5 branch, and to check if your patch applies to it, you can find the 2.5 branch at http://darcs.net/releases/branch-2.5. After the soft freeze comes the deep freeze, starting July 22nd. During the depe freeze, only patches fixing release-critical issues will be applied to the release branch. There seems to be no process in place to decide what is release-critical and what isn't. Hence I think I will decide on that, with help from your input of course. Regards, Reinier
