Be sure nobody will use Darcs seriously until Darcs solve its performance issues. You could create a hundred of free Darcs hosting sites, even much more featured than Github, you could either offer 1€ per record... but nobody will use a CVS that is unusable for large repos (and even for some medium size ones).
I have never use bzr so I don't know how slow it is, but one thing is to be "slower", and another very different thing is to be "irritating". And "irritating" is what most people think about Darcs when talking about performance.
