Hi people, if you have not decided yet whether to race this event, make a plan as it will be a good one. Jozi Pelindaba 65km and 30km AR On 27/28 Sept respectively Venue: Pelindaba / Necsa NECSA Picnic Site - entry from Gate 1. (from JHB Route 512 past Lanseria till T Junction, right over Crocodile River and right to NECSA gate 1, then right at gate to Picnic Site) New unexplored areas will be used. This is a great venue for a day out. Snacks and drinks will be on sale at the start/finish venue. Camping at the Pelindaba Camp Site (R30 pp): contact Dewaldt: 0832582579. For any meals please phone Hein Hechter 0836446265 before Thursday midday (25th Sept). There are also braai facilities available. Co-ordinates for start: S25 48 32.2 E27 54 44.8 Start time and date: 65km - 27 Sept - 8am 30km - 28 Sept - 9am Disciplines: Navigation, Mountain biking, hike, paddle, rope work and any other activity the organizers may introduce. Navigation for the 65km race only, with a short orienteering section for the 30km sprint. Recommended Equipment for 65km race: mountain bike, canoe (if you are fairly river proficient for grade 1 rapids) or croc (can be rented for R150 all inclusive there from Paddle Power - Ph David 082-9563597), helmet, shoes, backpack (you will need to carry your running shoes on the bike), bladder, paddle, Life Jacket PFD, compass, knife, whistle, first aid kit, safety blanket, warm top, headlamp/torch, enough food and water for the duration of the race (at least 6 hours), and cash (you will pass shops), We will supply colour laminated maps to all teams and any climbing equipment necessary. Seconds may or may not be necessary (see future notice on this next week) but will be an asset to transport bikes and canoes and are welcome as is family members and friends if they are not racing. Equipment for 30km race: mountain bike, helmet, shoes, enough food and water for the duration of the race (1.5 to 2 hours). Entry fee: 65km: - R250-00 includes the prize giving dinner. Pre entry closes Friday 26th Sept 12pm. late entry R320-00 from 6:30 till 7:30am on the morning of the race. Entry fee: 30km: - R120-00 Pre entry closes Fri 26th Sept 12 pm. R150-00 late entry on the morning Categories: any combo pairs and mixed 4's for the 65km are official but 3's are acceptable.30km - any combo pairs are official but teams of 3 and 4 are welcome.
