Greetings Everyone, Wow, I am always astounded when this time of year sneaks up on us. And then to take sometime and look at the past years events… absolutely WOW!!!!
Since 1 April 2005, the very first Dark & Dirty Night ride, things have gone a loooong way. This year was the our first at the Irene Mall shopping centre, and what a great relocation it was. So many trail variations in all directions that keeps all the favourite sections fresh and fun!!! This year was also very interesting as Dark & Dirty folks redefined its social Smileage character that it has always been known for, who can forget the Protest Ride, Banners and All!!! There after it has been just awesome times out there in the dark, cruising those schweet trails and meeting fantastic new people all the time. Thanks everyone that has joined us, it has truly been and honour and a pleasure to share the dark the dirt with you. And all you regular riders, You Just ROCK!!!! And, Some really special thanks and note goes to Q.T. and Gadget (Eric) and Deekayotic. And Boe (Daleen) for being our D&D Ambulance.. Thanks for all your help and support this year. Your voluntary efforts has been really appreciated not only by me, but by all the people that enjoy the Thursday nights out in the Dark…. Not only has it been a year of great Night Rides but also a brilliant year for sporting events….all the Adventure Racing that many of our D&D family participated in. Name the races, UGE 150/200km, SWAZI XTREME, BULL OF AFRICA and there were loads of us there having an awesome time!!! - lots of war stories and good times shared 2008 saw Nicky Booyens -Turbo Dwarf took on the world at the Cross Country MTB World Championships in France. A brilliant 6th place overall, only 30 seconds from 4th. Well Done Turbo Dwarf, you make us proud!!!! <<see attached full report>> Once again we had quite a few teams at Noon2Moon, our ladies team strongly defending their title against the local "Hot Mammas" and finishing 2 laps ahead to keep their first place podium position. You Girls ROCK!!!!! WE all had a lot of fun out there, dicing each other on Sabie's Schweeeetest singletrack. There were also some teams at 24hour, and ofcourse Turbo Dwarf (on her BDAY!!) did it Solo and took the 1st place for the womans category!!! Well Done Again!!!! PowerGirl is also taking on another one of the 7 Summits, this time it's the Highest Peak in Antartica….
