35Km Mild2Wild route

Well, what a lekker evening out on the bike... I must say...stealth, q.t.
stan, spinner, Oupa, the force, Ryno, Sue and I followed Gadget (Eric) out
into the dirty trails... It was Mild2Wild night... a route designed to be a
nice one for folks evolving from 25km intro into the longer trails with not
much technical stuff... So we passed this and that singletrack and kept to
jeeptracks and dirtroads mostly with bits of bumpy entertainment here and
there...

The afternoon clouds had evapuorated.. revealing the magnitude of a billion
stars.. and quite beauty on the "outback"

trail... the route was even cruisin and with the few speed zones to rev up
your lungs, heartrate and adrenalin.. keepin those racing snakes in shape
:-)... speakin of which.. Eric did spot a snake along that loong dirtroad
towards the T-junction.

We cruised all around and shot through batman tunnel and zooted through
those slalom singletracks which end with a tight turn between two gnarly
(knee high) rocks... q.t. was just commenting about how nasty it would be if
you fly through there and don't see the rocks, when I see "the force"
formely know as Peet, head straight at the gnarly faster than I can
yell...eisch

I want to close my eyes and not see the supercrunch whipeout... and the
ambulance trip that would follow... but that was not to be... Peet, not
seeing much in the feintness of his tikka light, magically and enexplainably
rolled over the rock.... I blinked twice and slid through the gap almost
taking myself out.... nooo frikkin ways... "he is strong with the force that
one".. a voice resembling wrinkly dude with huge ears announces....

And so we cruise on down the mild trails at a rather economical pace....
schwing through python singletrack and then it was down for the tour-la-tar
dice.... as per Gadget, this is where you can pull out all your dirty roadie
tricks.... so we cross the bridge and reach the rolling start....
friiiiiiiikin ayle and kilowatt kebabs... the dudes pulled off at such a
speed the tar was sssshmooookin... Ryno made a serious jump and nobody was
able to wheel suck.... but can he hold it all the way to the top?... he
looks back a few times.... gets outa the saddle and burns it hard to the
end... Absolutely awesome stuff... what a pleasure to have some worldclass
athletes having fun with us mortals!!!! Absolutely inspirationaly
fantastic!!!!

>From there we noticed we had a very good pace allnight and celebrated by
churning up Beeg Dipper.. where we got our first and only flat for the
night... but it did eventually seal... even after the schlow pace required
keeping us together... but as you guys know.. that side is currently know as
the NAM... so we keep it tight there !!!!

A final few wicked dices down cruiser and then back to the moo mall for
pizza beer and hot choccies.... we were even entertained by a very
impressive live trio, performing all sortsa cool sing alongs that most of us
wouldn't really want to admit that we know the words to... but couldn't help
joining in.... hehehe.. and Stan showed us how to do "the robot"... you rock
dude!!!

Thanks everyone, it was an honour to ride with you!! Thanks Eric for Leading
us on a suberb sojourn of the dark dirt.

So... some stats...

10 riders
40km
2:30 total time
wipeouts - none that I saw...
temp - about 23 degrees
