Sooo about last night... ahem///

I get there at 7 wondering if there will be any keen riders... OUPA GERT was
rearing to go.. .and so was Roger who cycled there from PVR, and two of the
Montrail Huskies Okies testing their lights and cold weather gear for Trans
Baviaans.
Eric & Gerda pops past just before we leave and says howzit, looking very
snug in the car, he notes the temp was at 9degrees...
So, as Powergirl tells us that the Russian mountain guides say in a gruffy
voice..."There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad attitude!"
And with that we zoot off into the most crisp clear night of the year.

Once you were moving and with the right gear on it was actually rather
pleasant. I was trying out a new pair of clear safety glasses cost R43 and
looks very sporty... and they were workin great....

We cruised the cruiser and over the top and the down a lekker gnarly Mielie
muur DH Rush... and as we got up to Shabeen queen speedzone...i feel my rear
getting a little squishy....eish i got a puncture....
I note the little whole and the sad lack of white juice bubbling where the
pssssshhhhtt sound is coming from... so I
do the plug thing and 1km later, halfway up that climb, it is clear that
there is no joy... so i pop out the coffee and we get stuck into pulling out
the stans rimtape and putting in a tube... eish... it was obvious i hadn't
topped up in a while, but luckily there was only really one huge thorn that
I had to pull out... and eventually after I had reclaimed the title of
taking the longest to fix a puncture... we carry on... (hence why i was
nominated to write the report..)

I mistakenly make a little joke about wether my front wheel also has a lack
of stans in...with a nervous hehhehe of course...... we cruise up light at
the end of the tunnel and down the minshaft where Oupa Gerrit who was
sweeping suddenly had a lights out while cruisin down.. upon further
investigation we notice that Oupa is not on his usual specialised steed..
but he is infact riding a hardtail... as the "Spaz" is in for shock therapy.

So we cruise through blair witch forest and upfront I see a pair of glowing
eyes looking back at me... i don't say anything to the other guys and we
just keep a good pace going...

Down Roetters route was lekker as always... and then halfway up heartbreak
ridge under a billion clear stars... (mmissing fool moon :-) i hear one of
the guys in fron of me get a puncture...
whoosh...whoosh....whoosh...pssst... whoosh... but the dud keeps riding..
thought, hey he should probably plug that one... but the dude keeps
going....so we keep going after him... and then i realise...but its my
frikkin front wheel.... EISH!!!!!...met frikkin ys ja... so another coffee
break and luckily all this one takes is a quick pump and it seals itself...
off we go again while discussion the lifecycle of good service that the
cycle shops / good bike techs give... and we cruise to the top of Look-ma-no
brakes which was just totally schweeeeeetness... Saw a brilliant falling
star....and then we zoot through python and up the hill and cruiser back
home.

Thanks everyone for a totally schweeeeeet ride

c ya next week
