Hi all, We're now in the final part of the calendar for 2009 and there are only a few more adventure related races before New Years Eve! To keep you updated as to what's going on with Uge Events as well as some other interesting events, we've compiled a list of recommended races. Enjoy! Sat 17 October SPN Blitz Mountain Bike Race - Pelindaba This is the final race in the 2009 series. It features a 60km distance as well as a 35km for the less adventurous. The race course is renowned for a great mix of jeep and single track. The race is now also CSA sanctioned. Entries available on http://www.ugeevents.co.za/index.html Sun 25 October Adventure Triathlon Series - Parys There is a new series of 'Adventure Triathlons' taking place on the Vaal River near Parys. This one sounds like a lot of fun. The triathlons feature trail running, mountain biking and canoeing. However, if you don't have your own canoe, the organisers will lend you a rubber inflatable boat to complete a shorter flat-water loop. There are further series races on 5 December and 16 January. See http://www.parystriathlon.co.za/ for more details. Sat 7 and Sun 8 November The CapeStorm Rogaine - Belfast Mpumalanga This annual event is now in its 7th year. On Saturday, teams of 2 can participate in either a 2.5hr or 6hr Rogaine on Foot, whilst on Sunday there are also options for teams for a 2.5hr or 5hr Mountain Bike Rogaine. The objective? Visit as many checkpoints as possible on a map of the Belfast Forests within the time limit. This is a very popular race with participants coming back year after year - mainly due to the beauty of the Belfast forest plantations. Entry form and more information is available at http://www.roc.org.za/RogaineOnlineEntries.asp Sat 28 November Mountain Bike Orienteering - Protea Ridge Krugersdorp This is the final race in the popular 2009 series. Orienteering on a mountain bike! Protea Ridge has got to be one of the best places in the province to do this type of activity. Beautiful jeep track, 4x4 routes and a mixture of easier and technical riding. Various race lengths will be available on the day suitable for the novice through to the pro rider. Assistance with map reading and so on will be available on the day. However, don't worry if you've never done it before... it's easier than you think! Information will be available in about 2 weeks time at http://www.roc.org.za/index.asp Sunday 29 November Kinetic Urban Adventure - Kyalami The final race of the Kinetic Urban series. The organisers have revitalised adventure racing in the province with this action packed series. It now features approximately 300 competitors each race, racing in teams of 2 or 3 persons. There are some big sponsors involved, but more importantly, there is always lots of excitement around the course. Further info at http://www.kineticgear.co.za/Kinetic/KineticAdventure/tabid/7811/Default.aspx We hope that the above races can keep you fit and active over the next few months. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at these events!
