Waassssuuuup!!! ya Dirty dudes and dudettes!!! Well yeah we are still waiting for the elusive Stan's report from 2 weeks ago..(comon brewh) but let me tell you about last week... yeah you remember.. blame it on El Nino or whoever..but that was some pretty sh!tty cold rainy weather that just didn't seem to let up.. yeah it seeped in and dampend the spirits a bit.. after about 3 days no african sun......yeah wtf? Is the weather gone into recession too?.... I was getting a little morbs... which got me thinkin.. I would rather be a crime fighter/statistic than live (or die slowly) in a country that is not blessed with, what are we like? …...about 95% sunny days??
Anyways the cold wet was probably at its peak just before last weeks ride... Even the ou toughies like Stealth and D1 had thrown in the gym bunny towels adding to the various justifications of bike wear and tear / bike getting dirty / not getting flu / and its just too darn Frikkin cold brewh... So q.t. and I get there and the wind was now blowing and it was drizzling...we were thinkin there would maybe one or two hardcore's that would could be lured to a nice pizza and wine/beer.. but hell no we won't go.. there was the Lickety Split adventure racers.. Mike and Adri, all kitted up and ready to ride, another chap who last rode with us two years ago, Johann, “the dark horse” who got a good lesson on wet weather gear and When Oupa Gert pulled in... and it was settled... ..i am thinkin of the line from that Costner movie “The Gaurdian”.. “And when the holy Lord himself reaches down from heaven and destroys his good work with winds that rip houses off the ground, WE. GO. OUT. !!!!!” O.k. But seriously, you guys and ladies are seriously impressive!!!.. We hit the cruiser and then headed down Cornwall DH R.U.S.H. Which is seriously back to its former gnarliness self again... We did that “Trail that Eric shall name!” and It was actually strangely amazing to be out there hacking it... although there were times you were thinkin wtf am I doing here?... but like that other dude said... you answer yourself “Its what I do!” We headed up Limbo lane jeeptrack and then swung over a short rutted section of “look ma no brakes” before climbing up to the top of quad busta hill-tower... for two reasons... number one, it was Mikes Bday.. to which we sang in the wind and the rain..to which his reply was, something like “thanks guys, but can we go now” :-) Which brings us to the other reason.. Oupa Gerrit wanted us to live up to the promise of doing QuadBusta DownHill.... wet weather, slippery rocks and new erosions have an wild and spicy recipe that smokes of adrenalin and drips of endorphins...wooohoo...you gotta love it brewh! At the end of the ride there was a mix sensation of awe vs cold wet discomfort, but rounded with a feeling of satisfaction for just doing it anyway... Thanks guys and gals.. life is about getting out there and doing shtuff...life is about participating and experiencing.. and as always, it truly was an honour to ride with YOU! >>>> So about tonight's Ghost Riders revenge 25km.. yeah it is going to be a lot of fun and yeah there will be a few “Ghost” rides on some less ridden singletracks.. but there will also be some B-day partying.. so see ya l8r folks for some twisty trails and lotsa FUN!!! As for this weekend.. for those of you who are in GP, hope you are doing the MTB-Oring (great Nav stuff) the Kinetic Race or even perhaps the 2-day Klip (dusi training ;-) And for those of you's fortunate enough to be heading with us to Sabie this weekend for some awesome noon2moon ...woooohooooo ….forest singletrack bushtunnels... it is going to be so much FUN I get sooo excited just thinkin about it!!!!! Let me know if you are keen we still have a few spots on some teams... / travel together save costs...etc...
