Hi Everyone,

What a night. It is such an honour and a privilege to have worked together
with the Tshwane Adventure Racing Club to put on this club race. So many
people came together and gave everything in making such a fantastic event
happen. There are no words that can express the gratitude and awesome
feeling it was being a part of YOUR team. The "behind the scene" challenges
were conquered with an amazing connected effort of team work. WOW!!!!
Once again, something that was proved to me again. Racing is the easy part.

Ok so back to the race. Full results etc will be posted on our club webpage
by the end of tomorrow www.tshwane.wordpress.com

So, what was the goal of the club race? Well it was to bring basic the
basics of "old school" real adventure racing back into the game. You know, 4
person mixed teams getting out there and through team work navigating their
way through a set course. Hahaha as per Ryno's comment it wouldn't have been
"old school" if it didn't have at least one CP anomaly :-)
Anyway, all the teams did fantastic out there, navigating in a very dark
night, and fantastically, there was a 100% finishing rate for the race. When
the technical hike took a lot longer that expected for most teams, we
basically informed teams that we would like them to have the opportunity to
finish the full course and it is up to them. Some were able to use this
opportunity, others due to other arrangements for Saturday decided to take
short course options. But every team, raced through the night and watched
the sunrise amongst the sweet calls of fiery necked night jars and made it
back to the finish line!!!!
WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU!!!! JULLE IS ALMAL YSTERS!!!!!

Here is a provisional summary of the results for now:
1st Place : Kinetic - 10hours 58minutes
2nd Place: Fly-by-Night - 12hours 43minutes
3rd Place: Tshanduko (Schools team) - 13hours 30minutes

The race was tight at places for these teams, and great respect to Fly by
night (a new tshwane AR club team) and to Tshanduko, a very promising
schools AR team for giving a good race. Some two hours + into the race at
TA2 these teams were neck on neck. Kinetics wealth of experienced pulled
them ahead in the technical hike to pull a good lead for the win. Tshanduko,
a very impressive effort out there. as with many teams, you reached yoru
percieved limits and went beyond!!!

BoyBands
So we had 5 teams that were unable to woo ladies to join their teams. (but
thanks for atleast trying guys!!) There was an exciting battle between these
bachelor herds as they charged through the course. ANTS team took and early
lead and pulled about 1,5 hours on their challengers in the technical hike.
Platpoot and Hawkstone were swapping positions regularly with Hawkstone
pulling the for second.

ANTS 9hours 3minutes
Hawkstone 10hours 7minutes
Platpoot 10hours 46minutes

Its going to be GREAT to see how you guys do when you's are official mixed
teams!!!

The race stories are fantastic.. talk about having it all out there... from
"streakers" (or was that ants without pants :-) to bushwacking, temporarily
cursing of race organizers, to big smiles at the finish for having been out
there... to even an engagement proposal.. what a NIGHT!!!!!! Sounds very
much like "Old School" AR to me :-)

CONGRATULATIONS EUGENE AND KAREN!!!!!!!!

TEAMS, we as the Tshwane Adventure Racing Club would like to thank all of
