Man, I had a good ride :-)
Started about 06:43 from home, got to Singletrack Cycles at 07:00.
Decided on groups, and buzzed off... Right back along the route I just
came... Oh well.
The of course, the thought struck, that if we finish at the shop (as we
normally do, and this route precluded me turning off sooner) I would
have to go over Hans Strijdom and into Olympus drive again. When really
really tired...
So anyway, ended up going out along through the plots, following exactly
the route for the YstervARk and Lekker past the back of Nkwe toward
Mangwanani. We did NOT go over the hill to the left where the farmer
shot at us (strue...), but rather along Garsfontein, into the wind. Half
the group split off at the R25 at Welbekend, but we pushed on to the
train track, which we followed back to Boschkop, and around through the
plots back to Hazeldean from the bottom.
And then, yes, over Hans Strijdom again.
Ended up with just over 90km adn 835m ascent in 4:46 including stops. By
no means a killer ride, but the distance gets one. Which is what we
expect for TB, innit?
On the gear side, new shoes gave me an aching right foot and a sore left
knee. Maybe I should fiddle with the cleat a bit for the knee, and use
the more for the aching foot. I think the soles are much stiffer than my
old ones...
