Hi Guys & Girls

If possible I would like to have a quick chat to as big a group as possible
to explain to you how we can help you, and also how you can help us.

Until such time always keep the following in mind if you do need to contact
us.

1.) What happened? (We’ve been cycling and we have been attacked.) As
cruel as it sound this always gets the person on the other side’s immediate
attention and also put him or her at the ready to start taking down info.

2.) Who you are and your contact number. You will be called back the
minute that you have put down the phone by the response teams to get as much
info as possible from you and to relay it to the other responders.

3.) Where the incident occurred, it is extremely important to be precise
of where you are by using the following .e.g. We were on route from Midrand
Cable ski line to Smuts house, this will give us a general idea in which
direction to go and the incident occurred at the old mining site (die groot
gat), this will tell us where you are on that road, a clear landmark.

4.) Please keep in mind that ambulances don’t know the “woods like we do”,
that is why it is important for us to know where you are in order to get
what help you require to you.

5.) At this stage you will no longer be in contact with the control centre
but with the guys rushing to your aid. REMEMBER, you are upset, hurt and
maybe alone and the guys coming to you are running blind which means they
need to know in which direction the perpetrators has gone and also what they
were wearing in order to apprehend and also to avoid being mugged ass well
as the only thing on these guys mind is to get as much distance from you as
possible. A red top or yellow shirt, something that stands out and also the
amount of people that attached you. All this info will be relayed to the
rest of the teams that will be responding by radio. Always try to keep your
phone line open for calls coming from us if we require more information.

It is my sincere hope that we will never meet under these circumstances, but
we are there to help so if anything does happen please contact us
immediately to put us in a position to render you assistance.

Kind Regards

Ferdi

Last Thursday before the D&D ride, I was approached by Ferdi Smith who is
part of the Community Policing Forum in the area. If you ever get attacked
(let's hope unsuccessfully!) please contact 079 5281630 and report it so
that the thugs can be caught. You can also contact Ferdi at 082 6886546.
