What a lovely evening, not too cold not too warm just lekker for an evening ride. Where are all you D&D'ers, seems like everyone has emigrated, lest hibernated. The tracks are calling, patiently waiting.. field fires, winter cold and lack of rain have done their duty in clearing a lot of growth so the tracks are open and visible. T'was intro ride the time for socializing, easy pace lots of breaks. So there we were 2 riders (Francois and Tobie) and 2 runners (Bruce and Max), what an interesting mix, first call Exstacy park, easy pace, a couple of drop-offs and loops before regrouping for Ezekiels dropoff. OH my, the valley of 1000 heaps have risen overnight, trying to bar us from Ezekiels peak, but this is D&D; fully trained and hardened by oupa Gert for all terrain. Footsoldiers made easy work of the mounds, but the knights had to dismount and piggy back their trusty steeds. Scary breathing sounds echoed into the night.. we peaked.then..the elation of whizzing down Ezekiel's dropoff. Do not know if it was dirt road to be named Max's lunge or vetseun, but undulations had Max inspect the road surface at very close proximity .. would this qualify for disgraceful dismount ... she would not consent. Wash and go has developed a new dimension - a dry moat (maybe not for too long) - drawbridge has not been built calling for a new steed discipline, piggy back long jump. Phython, out and back always exhilarating, with the regular call - look out for red rock. No ride is complete without the customary visit to THE quadbuster, needless to say the footsoldiers triumphed in scaling the beast. Time to head back past Mieliemmuur for a total 20km of smilage in a respectable time of 2 hours and a bit. Hope to see you guys and girls out there next time, maybe a couple of cupcakes on the hilltop will be in order for the night since there has been an important birthday in the ranks this week.
