I did some change in there, (and you did find a bug for me in there, but that doesn't match what you observe
in particular, About darktable should contain the same string as PACKAGE_VERSION and I don't see how they could be different anyway, I comitted a fix for the bug I found which might partially explain what you see,please try a gain and report if that fixed it...
