Hi!

As darktable gets more and more modules (which is nice of course!) I find myself searching for "this nice module I don't use that often".

So it's not about modules I use every day and that I added to my * menu for this reason, but things I know that they exist, but don't know precisely where. In this case I end up scanning all groups for the module in question as I also admit that, I don't always understand the grouping used, though I don't deny it has some logic. (Just happened to search basecurve in the tone group e.g. as the tone curve lives there.)

Now, I wonder if it is feasible/helpful/nice to have some filtering on top of the current system, sort of a search functionality.

Eg. in the base curve sample I know there is a module "base curve" (or similar). I now could imagine just writing "bas" or "cur" and get the list of all modules filtered for this substring. In many cases I can imagine that this breaks down to an easily digestible number of modules matching. Currently, a worst case would probably be just one letter which probably isn't worse than e.g. base, color, correction and effects groups alone are already beyond 10 entries.
