Holger, A couple of recommendations...
If the enfuse-mp executable is available, use it. It is the multi-threaded version of enfuse and it's much faster. Check the version of enfuse before you install the storage and print an error and don't install if the version of enfuse doesn't meet the minimum. And a thought.... Could you check the version of enfuse and enable/disable displayed options based on what version was available?
