These are images from september 2012,
so it is likely they were viewed in Ps CS5 for Windows (changed files
were saved as PSD at that time).
I added the existing XMP files to the dropbox folder, in hope that you
may track down the problem.
Darktable "disappears" immediately as it sees these.
