There is an automatically generated backup of the db(s) in 
~/.config/darktable named data.db-pre-xxx respectively 
library.db-pre-xxx if you move from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 for example. I'm not 
sure if this automatism also works between master versions, but it could 
be worth to look for the backup files.
