I've been working with the exiv2 team to implement extraction of preview
images from Canon's CR3 file format, and with that in place, the exiv2
v0.27.5 release should have all the functionality that darktable
requires to extract previews and metadata from this format. See

I see that Daniel Vogelbacher has a pull request to handle the CR3 raw
image decoding that seems to work, at least in my limited testing — see
https://github.com/darktable-org/rawspeed/pull/271
Can anyone comment on the likelihood of getting CR3 support into
darktable for the December release? It looks like that PR might need
some work done on the rawspeed test suite so it passes the github CI
checks. Is that the main blocker, or are there other issues?
