In general the options in the gui tab are the ones that are relevant when 
running darktable with a gui. The core options are the ones that affect the 
core.

That being said, if you have some concrete suggestions what to change and how 
to do it better we can discuss that. However string freeze might hinder us to 
do the changes in a timely manner.
