On my system using ppa: darktable 1.1.1+43~g5839937 (64 bit) the
histogram box is blank throughout the session.
I also notice that I cannot move back on the filmstrip and view earlier
shots.
The import for me is very slow but that may be a function of an older
usb on Canon 50D ... 12 seconds.
I notice that despite being in manual mode there is no way on my camera
to change speed so the camera operates on auto mode only. Again is that
a problem only on my camera?
One last item ... if the camera 'goes to sleep' during the session dt
becomes frozen.

There is a histogram, but it only shows the values of the last taken picture.
It doesn't work for live view. If that's not the case for you we need to
investigate ...
