Pascal, here is an idea that would fit the DT paradigm and fit your
need (assuming I understand correctly your need)

Right now DT has some logic to apply some default modules when an XMP
image is opened for the first time...

couldn't the LR xmp be considered a replacement for that ?
overriding/completing the default imports...

what that would mean from a user point of view

1) when importing images into DT, the LR preset is not applied, the
embedded JPG is displayed as thumbnail
2) when opening an image with no DT xmp, check for a LR xmp. if it's
here, use it for default processing, if not use DT's default
processing
3) to reset an image/reimport when a newer version of LR import is
available, remove the processing of the image in DT, just like with
default settings

that would probably be simpler to implement, fit better with the DT
logic, need no UI change and fit your use case as I understand it...

would that work for you ?
