I realize this is a simple question with a complicated answer, but I'll try to
be brief. I have an Espon Pro 3800 printer and an X-rite Colormunki
spectrophotometer. I would like to use these tools to produce gallery quality
prints from within a Linux environment, and I've searched the web and darktable
lists for information on integrating darktable with a photo printing solution.
Given that the GIMP / Gutenprint combination (to my knowledge) does not support
color printer profiles, what are the chances that darktable will provide at
least a bare-bones module to support various paper profiles from within
Gutenprint? I have worked with PhotoPrint, which does offer color managed
printing, but that project seems to no longer be in development.
If the Darktable developers do consider a printing module, I would be happy to
test and report, although it is sometimes difficult to tell from a test print
whether or not a printer profile is or is not active.
Any ideas or thoughts, including existing solutions would be welcome.
Best,
-- Darrell
