hey,

sounds reasonable and simple. should be a 2-3 liner exercise with
dt_conf_* and "plugins/darkroom/clipping/new_variable_here" along with
a declaration in data/darktableconfig.dtd.

just be warned that c&r is a minefield and every change to clipping.c
is traditionally producing at least 10 new bugs :)
