My apologies, after posting to the mailing list I looked in to the metadata
problem further, used dcraw -i -v and saw the messed up metadata as you
described, other exif reading apps I'd used had truncated or ignored the
odd characters at the end, leading me to believe they were not present in
the dng's I had. :-)
So then tried exiftool but it told me unwriteable, but no problem as I see
that it's not actually metadata in the '.RAW' file captures but metadata
added by the outdated raw2dng build I used to create the .dng's.
I downloaded the latest raw2dng and was able to export .dng's with correct
metadata and vertical line correction as an added bonus. :-) So thanks for
the exif edit route, an upto date raw2dng solved it too and apologies again
for the misunderstanding.
