I extracted 256 test values (0 -255) from the raw file and compared them to the identical locations in the same sized jpg file.
While the shoulder of the curve appears to correlate well with dt's curve there appears to be a marked difference at the toe that I found interesting.
A plot that is typical of my findings are attached. Note: the absence of some of the 256 values causes the variation and I have not attempted any smoothing.
