I don't think there's any way to do this in the stable version of darktable 
(1.2).  However, in the development version
of darktable (1.3), there are various ways to do this.  The most analagous way 
to the "adjustment brush" in lightroom is
to use the new "drawn mask" functionality of darktable.  I have a couple of

They're a bit different to adjustment brushes in that they're attached to a 
single module rather than allowing you to
tweak multiple different modules with a single brush.  However, once you've 
defined a drawn mask, you can reuse it in
more than one module, so you can simulate that functionality, but with a few 
more clicks.
