Would it be possible, in the demosaic module,to include an option for an external program (like dcraw) to do the demosaicing? It might work like this: instead of using one of the built-in algorithms, the user could specify an external command (along with user specified options) to run, that would create a temporary image (such as a 16-bit tiff) somewhere (maybe in /tmp) that darktable would actually work on. Then the history stack would be saved along with the raw file so that if it is re-opened, it would run those same commands.
This would be quite a bit slower than using darktable's built-in algorithms, but it would give the user some extra flexibility for experimenting, as well as helping out users with as yet unsupported equipment. This could eventually be made fancy with sliders and checkboxes for the various dcraw options. Just an idea; I have no idea whether it is feasible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Android is increasing in popularity, but the open development platform that developers love is also attractive to malware creators.
