sorry i completely fail to see the connection now. if you'd rather use
whatever different software it's your choice.

to get an idea what is required to get good support for a particular camera
model, please:

- assume libraw has nothing to do with it at all
- read
http://www.darktable.org/2012/10/whats-involved-with-adding-support-for-new-cameras/
- maybe read
http://www.darktable.org/2012/12/profiling-sensor-and-photon-noise/
- and potentially http://www.darktable.org/2013/10/about-basecurves/

depending on your needs some of it is of course less important than the
rest (generic basecurves might be fine for example).
